Service in operation: the "Dimmi Tutto" Voice Portal is one of Telecom Italia's new "Info412" information services. It enables users throughout Italy to obtain georeferenced information on stocks, travel, cinemas, pharmacies, weather, horoscope, traffic, etc.

The solution:
Loquendo, the leader of the automatic speech-enabled services market, has realized the services for the "Dimmi Tutto" (Tell Me Everything) Voice Portal using its proprietary multilingual platform, VoxNautaTM .
By calling "Dimmi Tutto" on 412, users throughout Italy obtain the latest info on the stock market, travel offers, cinemas, pharmacies, weather, horoscope, exact time in Italy or throughout the world, traffic on motorways, solidarity projects and -if they register- their "Personal News" through "Personalissimo".

Content is organised in order to optimise usability and fruition speed. The information is automatically localized on the basis of the caller's city. The customer can directly connect to the required cinema or pharmacy using the call completion function.
Registered users can also create their very own portal (my city, my horoscope, my stocks portfolio) with personalized content.
The system can manage up to 10.000 calls per hour (each with an average duration of 3 minutes).

How the service works
An initial implementation of the project, started in November 2000, was launched as an experiment in the Bologna district in December of the same year, with Telecom Italia's Info12 service. This trial was the very first voice portal experiment in Italy. In April 2001, the number of services increased and the experiment extended to other regions.
In June 2001, the voice portal was extended throughout Italy with further enhanced services. As of October 18th 2001, Dimmi Tutto is part of Telecom Italia's commercial Info412 offerings along with the Directory Service and Operator Information Services.
The service was devised for a phone user who is not familiar with Interned Browsing. The style is communicative, voices and sounds chosen were studied to make the call pleasant for the listener. Furthermore, if the user registers, he can create his own personalized content (My-City, My Horoscope, My-Portfolio).


The service's distinguishing characteristics are:

  • georeferenced information - thanks to the caller localisation functionality the customer obtains information on a range of services, such as cinemas and pharmacies in the area he is calling from. User identification is carried out thanks to CLI (Caller Line Identification), which notifies the Content Management platform. Information on other areas is provided through direct speech interaction.
  • call completion - having browsed the "Dimmi Tutto" Voice Portal, the user can choose to be directly connected to the required phone number through the "Zero e Via" call completion service option.

Dimmi Tutto was realized on VoxNautaTM, Loquendo's multilingual platform devised for developing a vast range of automated and customised speech-enabled services.
