Lisheng, the new female Mandarin Chinese voice, joins Linlin, Loquendo's first Chinese voice, in taking the company and its partners into the booming Chinese and Taiwanese markets, as well as into the many large Mandarin-speaking communities within Singapore, Malaysia and throughout the world. Furthermore, the voice of Linlin has undergone significant refinements at the phonetic level, and so clients can now choose between two superior quality Mandarin voices, selecting that which best suits the company profile, giving them greater flexibility and expressiveness.

Lisheng has been developed in response to intense demand from the Chinese market, particularly from the automotive sector where there is a clear need for automotive products with a high quality Mandarin-speaking voice.

This latest addition to the Loquendo family brings the total number of languages to 21, the total number of voices to 54. Currently available languages include U.S. and U.K. English, American Spanish, Mexican, Chilean and Argentinian Spanish, Castilian, Catalan, Brazilian, Portuguese, Italian, German, Esperanto, French, Dutch, Greek, Mandarin Chinese, Swedish, Turkish, Canadian French and Polish in both male and female voices, with more always under development.

Like all Loquendo voices, Lisheng is available for Telephony, Multimedia and Embedded applications: integrators can select the footprint to best suit their requirements, always guaranteed the same wide range of highly expressive voices in all major languages, and all with the same core engine.

Lisheng fully supports the X-SAMPA phonetic alphabet, as well as the SAMPA variants from TeleAtlas® and Navteq™.

Lisheng is released on Loquendo TTS version 7.3.0 and, in common with all voices on this latest version, includes the Dynamic Range Control, one of several new features. The Dynamic Range Control gives improved TTS intelligibility in noisy environments: by means of easy-to-use controls, developers can fine-tune prompts and adjust audio to suit the location, the speaker and the audio device. This valuable and easy to use wizard is built into the Loquendo TTS Director tool.
