MILLERSBURG, OH, USA and TURIN, ITALY - March 05,
2008
Loquendo, global speech technology provider, and Saltillo, leading
providers of communication devices for the differently able, today
announced that Saltillo has chosen Loquendo Embedded TTS to power
its innovative ChatPC-4 product line.
The ChatPC-4, with synthesized speech output, is
a device for people who can not use their natural voice. It incorporates
PalmChat, a word based vocabulary for creating words and phrases
'on the fly': by pressing thoughtfully-designed buttons on the ChatPC-4,
users can create sentences and so communicate by means of Loquendo's
lifelike and expressive text-to-speech.
Based in Ohio, Saltillo Corporation is a company
dedicated to improving the lives and personal communication of individuals
with disabilities. Because personal, interactive communication is
so vital in human relationships, Saltillo has integrated into its
ChatPC-4 Loquendo Embedded TTS - a small footprint, truly natural
sounding text to speech technology.
The original ChatPC was introduced in 2000 and
soon became the most widely used PDA-based communication device
available. The ChatPC-4 is built upon a Pocket PC computer, allowing
the use of Pocket PC applications on the device, including Pocket
Word, Pocket Excel, etc.
"Saltillo's innovative and creative solutions can bring huge
improvements to the lives of differently able people," says
Paolo Coppo, Loquendo's Vice President for Marketing and Business
Development. "We are overjoyed to have teamed up with them,
and very proud that Loquendo TTS technology is helping so many people
to communicate more effectively."
"Our products are more than technology, they become the voice
of individuals who are unable to use their natural voice,"
states Dave Hershberger, president of Saltillo Corporation. "The
naturalness and quality of Loquendo speech synthesis helps us to
provide the best possible voice for these individuals."
