22nd, 2005 Loquendo announces the release of Embedded Speech
Daemon (Loquendo ESD), available on Windows-based pocket devices. It enables
fast and easy access to both Loquendo TTS and ASR Embedded Technologies, within
multimodal solutions. Loquendo ESD is a component for Windows Pocket PC
2003 devices, and is available to customers with Loquendo Embedded TTS and Loquendo
Embedded ASR speech engines. XML-driven, ESD offers a socket-based interface,
so that by using XML-based standard commands (such as <play> and <reco>),
applications have access to speech synthesis and voice recognition. Loquendo
ESD also comes with a plug-in for Pocket Internet Explorer, enabling the browser
to seamlessly support multimodal applications. "Any existing web application
can easily be transformed into a multimodal one," says Paolo Coppo, Director
of Business Development at Loquendo. "You can greatly enrich the available
content by simply adding JavaScript calls to the vocal plug-in. The standard
navigation by means of stylus and keyboard is hugely enhanced with this new vocal
interaction". Loquendo offers a full range of technological
components to rapidly and easily create best-of-breed solutions in 17 languages.
Currently available languages include: U.S. and U.K. English, American Spanish,
Castilian, Catalan, Mexican, Chilean and Argentinian Spanish, Italian, German,
French, Dutch, Greek, Mandarin Chinese, Brazilian, Portuguese and Swedish, in
both male and female voices. About
