Loquendo TTS – Features

Loquendo speech synthesis software offers a huge array of distinctive features and a set of powerful tools to ensure your text to speech messages and prompts turn out exactly how you want them:

  • Mixed Language Support – Loquendo voices can pronounce foreign-language words while maintaining their native accent. You can set the desired language yourself, or use Language Guesser (within Loquendo TTS Director) to analyse the text and set the language(s) automatically.
  • User lexicons – allow you to define the pronunciation of acronyms, proper names, abbreviations, etc. according to the application context. See  Loquendo Lexicon Manager.
  • Prosody controls – allow you to modify the speaking rate, pitch, pause frequency/length, etc. to render your text just as you want it. Accessed via Loquendo TTS Director or SSML tags.
  • Reading Styles – allow you to select a reading style for interpreting SMS/email abbreviations (e.g. LOL, :-D), address abbreviations (e.g. Dr., Cv., Xrd.), or other application-specific styles defined by the user. Accessed via Loquendo TTS Director.
  • Voice Creator – allows you to adjust the speed, pitch, timbre, etc. to create and save your own voice font to match your application target. Voice Creator is a tool within Loquendo TTS Director.
  • Audio controls – allow you to add reverb and echo, adjust stereo balance, modify frequency levels via a built-in 30-band graphic EQ, or add music and sound effects. These can also be mixed with speech and faded in and out. Accessed via Loquendo TTS Director.
  • Expressive TTS – allows you to add animated phrases (e.g. “Welcome!”, “Amazing!”) and sounds (e.g. coughing, laughter) to make your messages really come to life. Accessed via Loquendo TTS Director.
  • Voice Flavours – allow you to choose from a range of encoding rates and sampling frequencies to suit your application environment and the associated device's memory requirements. In Loquendo TTS Director, application developers can select the appropriate Voice Flavour to hear their prompts as they will sound on the actual device.
  • Phonetic alphabets – Loquendo supports IPA & X-SAMPA (which allow you to define TTS pronunciation using phonemes), as well as the SAMPA TeleAtlas® & Navteq™ extensions for reading map addresses and POIs.
  • SSML support – allows you to create prompts in SSML, either using Loquendo TTS Director (which checks your element/attribute tags automatically) or any other SSML editor.
  • Diacritic Insertion for Arabic – in Loquendo TTS Director, diacritics can be automatically inserted into Arabic language texts with one mouse click

Loquendo TTS is powered by a single speech engine which offers the same extensive array of features and the same wide choice of languages and voices for all application environments and on all platforms, whether Telephony, Mobile, Automotive, Embedded, Desktop or Web.
