SpeechTEK is the annual worldwide gathering of the minds and markets in speech technology, to be held in New York from October 29th to November 1st 2002. It is a once-a-year opportunity to meet and interact with the global network of vendors and enterprise customers who are developing and implementing speech solutions. Attendees include buyers and sellers of speech technology products and solutions, end-users, integrators, developers, investors, and corporate and governmental decision-makers.

Loquendo has further expanded its customers' horizons by releasing four new languages: Swedish with Annika, Argentine with Diego, Chilean Spanish with Francisca and Catalan Spanish with Monserrat. But that's not all! Telecom Italia Mobile has broadened its i -TIM Voice Portal offering by introducing TimStrada, the new service providing information on traffic, road conditions and services for the entire Italian motorway network.
All users need to do is call i-TIM voice on their mobile phones and they are offered:

• traffic information for the route of their interest, including accident-related or other types of traffic congestion;
• service station information for the motorway network, including details of the types of services available;
• routes and toll information, including overall mileage and tolls for the routes requested for all vehicle types.

This service was realised for TIM by Loquendo, using its open multilingual turnkey voice platform, VoxNauta®.

Loquendo Technology has been chosen for the Telecom Italia Future Center, in Venice, Italy. Loquendo TTS & Loquendo ASR, along with a range of innovative solutions developed by Loquendo, are the "behind-the-scenes" protagonists of the exhibition now open to the public in Italy's new Innovation and Multimedia museum.
Loquendo is excited to be contributing its proprietary speech technologies to this unique landmark, where visitors are free to travel through the past - and the future - of one of the world's most magical cities. Powered by Loquendo exhibits at the Future Center include a VoxSail technology prototype developed by Loquendo for Italy's premier skipper who uses speech recognition in cross-ocean sailing to control his trimaran and carry out speech-controlled manoeuvres just using his voice, as well as a speech-enabled "Wishing Well" that predicts visitors' futures.

Loquendo's new VAD - Corporate Service is a robust, speaker-independent employee productivity enhancement application for enterprises of all shapes and sizes. It enables employees to call numbers in the corporate phone directory, including departments and co-workers, simply by saying the name.
The application provides Incoming Call Management - for dealing with high call volumes or for outside switchboard operating hours. Furthermore, a range of self-configurable optional features are available, which contribute to improving the work-environment and increase efficiency. A couple of examples are: the speech-enabled Personal Directory Service and the Personal Assistant - which make sure calls reach users at specified numbers despite changing schedules and locations, and deliver voicemail to their e-mail account.
To use VAD - Corporate Service, all employees need is a wireline or wireless phone - and their voice!

With the increased diffusion of automated phone-based services, being able to rely on secure, fraud-free transactions is a crucial issue for enterprises and end-users alike. This is especially true in the case of mobile transactions. Loquendo has created Loquendo Speaker Verification, which uses the voiceprint as a biometric to ascertain an individual's identity - beyond the shadow of a doubt. Compared to other biometric-based technologies, it is highly accurate and requires no specific equipment.
Loquendo Speaker Verification leverages Loquendo ASR (Automatic Speech Recognition) technology to provide a great deal of flexibility by offering a range of authentication modes using any password: developers can choose among text-dependent verification mode (setting vocal password domains or leaving users the initiative); text-prompted mode (where the system tells users what to say to rule out any chance of access through fraudulently recorded passwords); text-independent mode (for set domains such as digits, etc). Loquendo Technology has been chosen by the Crédit Mutuel Group to power their new Telsanté health insurance offering. Customers benefit from over-the-phone speech interaction to obtain the details of their Crédit Mutuel health insurance refunds. Loquendo TTS software provides users with dynamic information in real-time. Bernard, Loquendo's expressive male voice for the French language, will provide Credit Mutuel's Telsanté customers with the information they require.

In the next few weeks, Loquendo will be an active participant in several of the world's most influential events for the speech technologies sector.
