Loquendo at SpeechTEK WEST 2006
Hyatt Regency,
5 Embarcadero Center,
San Francisco, CA
January 30 - February 1, 2006
Loquendo, the global speech technology company, will be unveiling the very latest developments
in speech technology at SpeechTEK West in San Francisco, 30th January – 1st February, 2006.
Don't miss this chance to try out the impressive range of new tools and functionalities, and to see
how Loquendo's world class speech technology can power your speech business, increase revenue
and customer satisfaction - while at the same time cutting costs.
What's new from Loquendo:
On the event of SpeechTEK West, Loquendo is proud to present its new generation of speech
technologies, radically redesigned, as well as some exciting demos from the partners of Loquendo.
Here is an outline of the new Loquendo products you can discover at Booth # 137 in the Exhibition Area:
- Loquendo TTS 7.0, the new Text to Speech technology with 37 lifelike voices in 17
languages, provides more efficient algorithms and many additional features to dramatically
improve voice applications: Gilded TTS is the highly emotive pronunciation of many
everyday expressions, leading to extremely natural sounding speech; Mixed Language
Capability is the ability of any one voice to correctly pronounce text in any number of
languages, while retaining its native accent. Furthermore, this new release includes major
leaps forward in phrasing and in the use of pauses within TTS, as well as fundamental advances
at the signal processing level. In addition, new customised voices can be created by
the adjustment of the timbre, pitch and speed of the standard Loquendo voices.
These improvements will greatly enhance the TTS experience.
- Loquendo ASR 7.0, the Automatic Speech Recognition technology for speech-enabled
applications. It reliably recognizes large-scale vocabulary continuous speech, even in noisy
environments such as wireless. Loquendo ASR fully supports all standards for
speech recognition, such as W3C SRGS (Speech Recognition Grammar Specification) and
W3C SISR (Semantic Interpretation for Speech Recognition). In addition, Loquendo unveils the
ASR Tools Suite to improve the performance of Loquendo ASR in real-life application contexts.
- Loquendo's VoxNauta™ 7.0 VoiceXML platform, the new software-only, multi-lingual,
multi-OS Voice Platform, integrating the latest releases of Loquendo TTS, Loquendo ASR and
Loquendo Speaker Verification through the MRCP v2 protocol. VoxNauta provides compliance
to VXML 2.0 and 2.1 and implements CCXML 1.0, the new standard language
for programming
call control at service level. Moreover, it offers a software-only implementation of the SIP-RTP
VoIP interface as well as analogue and digital network board support, ensuring low network-integration
costs for the customer.
- Loquendo Speech Suite 7.0, which enables System Integrators to choose
the components they need from Loquendo's technological range, and to exploit them using a flexible,
standard-based, client-server architecture, which supports both MRCPv1 and v2.
The modular architecture makes Loquendo Speech Suite
independent from ASR/TTS engines, languages and voices, allowing the seamless upgrade to new
technology releases as well as the addition of new languages (ASR) and new voices (TTS).
Loquendo is the only speech technology vendor that provides a complete product line
for servers, desktop, PDA and embedded, guaranteeing the same wide range of languages
and the same core engine in all these environments.

STANDARDS
CORNER
- Semantic
Interpretation for Speech Recognition reaches Candidate Recommendation
January, 11 2006
W3C's Voice Browser Working Group has released a new version
of the Semantic
Intepretation for Speech Recognition (SISR) Version 1.0 specification at Candidate Recommendation
level. This is very important news for the speech application world:
the speech recognition grammars are close to having a complete set of standards which
covers both the syntactic and the semantic aspects. This is an important step towards
the W3C Recommendation goal.
Loquendo strongly believes that full standard grammars will promote the development
of the speech application world.
- Forthcoming
W3C Workshop on: "The Ubiquitous Web"
March 9-10, 2006
The main aim of this Workshop is to build a better understanding of the Ubiquitous Web,
and to identify potential areas for standardization. For instance to explore the vision of the
Web as a distributed applications platform that works across a wide range of devices, or
to explain how current W3C work fits into this vision (e.g. Delivery Context Interfaces,
Device Descriptions, Multimodal Architecture, etc.), or to identify and prioritize additional
areas which would benefit from standardization.
- Mobile Web Best
Practices 1.0 is Working Draft
January 13, 2006
The scope of these Best Practices refers primarily to the extension of web browsing onto
mobile devices and to improve the experience of the Web on mobile devices.
In the context of wishing to work towards 'One Web', that is to make available, as far as is
reasonable, the same information and services to all users irrespective of the
device they are using. However, it does not mean that exactly the same information
is available in exactly the same way across all devices. Some services and information
are more suitable for, and targeted at, particular user contexts.
- New releases of
Accessibilities Guidelines 2.0
November 11, 2005
The W3C Web Accessibility Initiative has released the first working draft on two
important topics: the Web Content Acessibility Guidelines 2.0
(WCAG 2.0) and the Authoring Tool Accessibility Guidelines 2.0.
There is also some introductory material, such as Introduction to Web Content Accessibility
Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0 Working Draft Documents and Authoring Tool Accessibility Guidelines
(ATAG) Overview.
The ultimate goal is to produce Web content and to make it more accessible
to the vast majority of users, including people with disabilities and elderly users.
