FOREWORD
Dear Reader,
Loquendo’s philosophy is to make its products available for everyone, for all platforms and in the widest number of languages, and we continue to pursue this strategy with our multilingual, multi-platform, fully standards-compliant technologies.
To this end, on the Product side, Loquendo continues to expand its portfolio of languages and voices - arguably the largest in the industry – with Loquendo ASR now available in both Danish and Finnish as well. In the telephony market, the new release of Loquendo MRCP Server 7.1 for Linux supports additional enterprise-class RedHat distributions - Enterprise 4.0 & 5.2, along with CentOS 5.2 - while in the mobile space, Loquendo Embedded ASR is now available for the Symbian OS for mobile devices.
Loquendo has also become a Software Partner with Digium - the creator, owner and innovative force behind the Asterisk® platform. The whole community of developers centred on Open Source technologies for VoIP communications now has the best of speech technologies at their disposal – ASR, TTS and SV, in the 26 supported languages – for creating voice-enabled applications.
Notably, recent market research (easternmanagement.com) indicates that more than 18% of installed PABX are based on open source software.
In Loquendo@Work you can read about the latest Loquendo-enabled solutions for enhancing your customers’ experience and boosting client retention. These solutions include Biomni, which has created an automated voice-messaging service for the UK’s National Health Service; Zanichelli, one of Italy’s publishing giants, which is using Loquendo Speech Technologies on the CD version of its English-Italian dictionaries; and Artematica, which has launched an innovative system for rapidly building speech into web pages by creating a combined website and Voice Portal.
